Information and Guidelines

We do have a few rules and guidelines for our members, for the benefit of all of us. If you’re interested in joining us, please make sure you’re okay with the summary of the rules and expectations below (full details are available on request).

Rules of Membership

  • Membership runs from 1st April to 31st March each year
  • There is a joining fee — this is currently £10
  • Annual membership is currently £30 (for paper copy newsletters), or £10 (for email newsletters)
  • Members must be over 40
  • If two members marry, they will be allowed to remain in the group
  • Married couples and cohabiting couples are not permitted to join
  • Members are required to ‘host’ at least one event in each Club year (help is available)

How we work …..

Members submit suggestions for events to the Newsletter Co-ordinator and a social evening is held each month to discuss proposals. A newsletter is then produced which contains details of all planned events and identifies a point of contact (the event host). The newsletter is available as a posted paper copy or via email.

Members are responsible for getting to and from an event meeting point. Often, a car share is recommended, and on these occasions costs are shared between people travelling together.

Attendance at all Club events is at your own risk.

The Committee

There is a committee, elected at the AGM, who carry out the policies and provide administration and management of the affairs of the group. Everyone on the committee is an unpaid volunteer and a member of the Club.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM)

An Annual General Meeting takes place at the end of March / beginning of April. It is an opportunity to report on the year’s activities, discuss the financial situation, introduce new motions, make suggestions and reconsider rules and fees. The new committee for the following year is also elected.

Joining Us

We have a meeting each month for prospective new members to find out more about the Club and meet current members. Prospective members can also attend up to three events before joining.
